John Bass of the parish of Lympstone in the County of Devon gentleman the sole executor named in the last Will and Testament of John Bass late of Lympstone aforesaid shipbuilder deceased who died on the fourteenth of October 1825 maketh Oath and saith that he hath made diligent search and due enquiry after, and in respect of the Personal Estate and Effects of the said Deceased, in order to ascertain the full Amount and Value thereof; and that to the best of his knowledge, information, and belief the whole of the Goods, Chattles, and Credits, of which the said Deceased died possessed within the Archdeaconry of Exeter (exclusive of what the Deceased may have been possessed of, or entitled to as a Trustee for any other Person or Persons, and not beneficially and without deducting any thing on account of the Debts due and owing from the Deceased) are under the Value of Eight Hundred Pounds and this deponent further saith that the said deceased was not at the time of his decease to the best of this deponents knowledge information and belief possessed of or entitled unto any Leasehold Estate for years either absolute or determinable on lives.

This is the last Will and Testament of me Mr John Bass of Lympstone in the County of Devon.
First I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Bass all those two newly erected dwelling houses with the Cellars, Coalyard, & Tin Shop thereunto belonging & in the several occupations of John Sivell, Rd Payne & I Edwards as Tenants thereof, to the only use of my said daughter Sarah Bass, her heirs and assigns forever.
Also I give & bequeath unto my son Wm Bass all that Estate called Watter Meadow situate & lying at Woodbury Salterton in the Parish of Woodbury in the occupation of Wm Payne as Tenant thereof.
Also I give and bequeath unto my said son Wm Bass all those two dwelling houses in Lympstone now in the occupation of Wm Bodly & Ellis as Tenants thereof with their and every of their Appurtenances thereunto belonging for & during his natural Life, and from & Immediately After his decease I give and bequeath the said Estate called Walton Meadows & the houses in Lympstone unto his Child or Children if more than one in even and equal shares between them as Tenants in Common & not as joint Tenants & their heirs & Assigns forever but in case he shall leave no Child or Children Living at his death or any Issue of such Children Then I give the same Lands & houses unto my son John Bass but in case of his leaving no Child or Children , or Issue of any such Child or Children Living at his death in even and equal shares between them & their Heirs & Assigns forever.
Also I give and bequeath unto my son Wm Bass All that Vessell of mine called the Neptune with the Boat Anchors, Cables, Sails and all the Stores & Articles belonging to the sd Vessell to his own proper use and benefit.
Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Anna Sophia Bass all those three Dwelling Houses being a part of Metherals Tenement adjoining the house in which I live, now or late in the occupation of Mr Shore Mrs Hooker & Mrs Todhunter as Tenants thereof with all outhouses Gardens paths passages & priviledges thereunto belonging, together with all the Household goods fixtures & Property of mine which may be in the said houses or either of them at my death for & during her natural Life & from & Immediately after her death I give the said Dwellinghouses unto her Child or Children if more than one in even and equal shares between them as Tenants in Common and not as joint Tenants & their heirs & assigns forever, but in case she shall leave no Child or Children Living at her death or any Issue of such Child or Children then I give the same Houses & premises unto my son John Bass but in case of his leaving no Child or Children or Issue of such Child or Children (lawfully begotten) living at his death then I further give the same Houses with the Appurtenances thereunto belonging unto such of my Children as shall be living at his death in even and equal shares between them & their heirs & assigns forever.
Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Eliza Colridge Sivell all those four dwelling houses in Lympston called the Bridge house, in the occupation of Elizth Fley Rbt Knowles Skinner & Ann S Bass, with the Cellars & outhouses thereunto belonging to her own Sole and Separate use, & in case she shall leave any Child or Children Living at her death, then I give the same Houses & premises unto such Child if more than one in equal shares between them and their heirs & assigns forever, a[s] Tenants in Common and not as joint Tenants but in case she shall leave no Child or Children then I give the same houses & premises unto my son John Bass but in case of his Leaving no Child or Children or Issue of any Child or Children lawfully begotten Living at his death then I further give the same Houses with the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto such of my Children as shall be living at his death in even and equal shares between them and their heirs & assigns for ever.
All other of my Freehold Lands Messuages, Tenements & premises with the apputenances thereunto belonging situate and being in the Parish of Lympstone or elsewherein the County of Devon not hereinbefore given & described I give and bequeath unto my son John Bass for and during his natural Life & in Case he shallLeave any Child or Children Living at his decease, Then I give the same lands messuages Tenements & premises with the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto such Child or Children in even & equal shares between them as Tenants in Common & not as joint Tenants and their heirs and assigns forever, but in case he shall leave no Child or Children lawfully begotten or issue of any such Child or Children then I further give & bequeath the aforesaid Lands Messuages Tenements & premises with the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto such of my children as shall be living at his death in even & equal shares between them and their heirs & assigns forever.
And I hereby appoint my son John Bass my sole executor to this my last Will and Testament and I give and bequeath unto him all my household .......... & personal property which I may be possessed of at my death ..... .......... ...... ............ to the payment of all my just debts and funeral expenses-------------John Bass (£$)

This is a Codicil to the last Will and Testament of Mr John Bass of Lympston in the County of Devon.
First I Give devise and bequeath unto my live daughters Sarah Bass and Rebecca Salter the sum of two hundred pounds each and I declare that the said sum of two hundred pounds given to Rebecca Salter shall be for her own sole and separate use and that her present husband shall have no right or Claim thereto to be paid to my said daughter within one year after my death.
Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Anna Sophia Bass the sum of four hundred pounds to be paid to her within one year after my decease
Also I give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Eliza Colridge Sivell the sum of two hundred and fifty pounds to be paid her within one year after my decease.
Also I give devise and bequeath unto my Sister Mary Bass the sum of one hundred pounds to be paid her within one year after my decease and I hereby declare that I have given each and everyone of the above Legacies in addition to any Legacies already given to any or either of them in my last Will and Testament and that they shall be paid by my son John Bass as my Executor named in my said Will.
Also I give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Bass her heirs Executors or administrators one clear annuity or sum of fifteen pounds per year payable quarterly free and clear of all deductions and charges whatsoever the first payment thereof to be made on the next quarter day (or within ten days thereof) which may next happen after my death, Upon Trust to pay and apply the said same annuity of fifteen pounds per year for and towards the support and maintenance of my son William Bass during his natural Life And I hereby Charge and make liable the Lands and premises which I have given to my son John Bass for the due payment thereof and to be enforc’d by my said Daughter Sarah Bass by distress on my said Lands and Premises or any part thereof when the said annuity shall be in arrear or unpaid for the Space of fifteen days after each quarter day and the expence[sic] attending such distress to be paid in addition to the said annuity In Witness whereof I the said John Bass have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty fourth day of June one thousand eight hundred and twenty four----John Bass (SS)
